I am the only person among all the people in my life that proudly and loudly claims Feminist as a primary identity. This means that, even among friends, my observations about sexism in the patriarchy are met with 1) a polite set of nods and then an abrupt change of subject; 2) a bunch of devil’s advocate questions or outrageously sexist statements intended to provoke a reaction and/or lighten the mood; 3) a detailed, impassioned defense of their own “feminist” sensibilities followed by an explanation of how men are people too.

My purpose here is to talk about the misogynistic shit I see and feel everyday and to document how the current status of women in the world makes me feel and what it makes me think, without any concern about the patriarchically-indoctrinated sensitivities of my audience. In this place, I get to say whatever I think needs to be said in the way I want to say it. Finally.

Please refrain from instructing me on how to be a better feminist or how to not alienate men, and don’t bother telling me me why you think feminism is wrong or unnecessary. If you do, I will very likely delete your comment unless I can use it to make fun of you.

Wanna say something to me personally? Okay.  Send to dizzy.buzzkill at gmail

    Hello lovely lady,

Thanks for adding me to your blogroll. Although after visiting your site I realised how much more aesthetically soothing wordpress is and have moved over. I also really have an aversion to the word “blog” so anyway to avoid it I appreciate.

Just found your blog today from reading Twisty’s. I love it and great work. Like you, I proudly claim that I am a feminist and get the same responses. Especially from other females. From men I tend to get the patronizing head pat and how cute I am.
“Oh look, she thinks she’s human and should be treated with the same respect. Isn’t that cute!”. So thanks for the blog, nice to know other women are feeling the pain!!
